Finance Manager - Technical

Allen Lane are currently supporting a London-based Council in the recruitment of an Interim Technical Finance Manager  to support with the year-end close down process. This role, reporting to the Chief Accountant, will be pivotal in ensuring the effective management and smooth completion of the year-end financial procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Chief Accountant on producing and preparing the year-end accounts.
• Management of one direct report
• Take charge of producing accurate financial statements in compliance with relevant regulations.
• Support with the management of the annual audit process from start to finish.
• Act as the main liaison with auditors, handling queries and ensuring timely resolution.
• Ensure the correct handling of the Collection Fund and Grant Accounts

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, or equivalent).
• Extensive experience in year-end close down processes for local government, including the preparation of financial statements and managing audits.
• Experience in working with a London Borough or similar local authority is highly desirable.
• A strong understanding of local government accounting standards and regulations.

Additional Information:

• Contract Duration: Up to 6 months.
• Location: Hybrid working with one day per week in the London office.
