Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make-up.

Your new role

There are 3 positions on offer at Financial Analyst level, which are essentially business partnering roles responsible for managing substantial budgets and providing support to senior managers. The 3 posts are in the following areas;

*Chief Accountants – You will provide financial reporting support for the Collection Fund, i.e. the account that manages Council Tax and National Non Domestic Rates (business rates). This role will support the Revenues team and the Medium Term Finance Strategy and lead in the monitoring of the Collection Fund and budget setting for the Council, in addition to supporting the completion of reconciliations, statutory returns and year-end processes for the  Collection Fund.

*Childrens and Young People – You will be the Finance Business Partner supporting the CYP directorate, particularly the teams that deal with all aspects of inclusion of children with Special Educational Needs.
You will play a key role in supporting the ongoing Delivery Better Value (DBV) in the Brent Programme, aimed at reducing the current Dedicated Schools Grant  deficit.

*Partnerships, Housing & Resident Services – You will be the finance business partner supporting the Communications Insight Innovation and Resident Services department. This will primarily involve budget management, financial management, and providing support to senior managers.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will be a part-qualified accountant/AAT and have ideally worked in local government or have a keen interest in doing so. Applications from candidates who have worked in another public service area or commerce would be welcome if you are able to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges and issues facing the sector.

You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work well in a large complex environment and be able to work effectively with stakeholders.
