Cheshire Constabulary is seeking to appoint a Chief Finance Officer based at Cheshire Constabulary Headquarters in Winsford.
The Chief Finance Officer role is a key position for the Chief Constable and forms part of the Senior Leadership Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the provision of strategic financial planning & budgeting services to the force to ensure we are effectively using our resources through rigorous budget control across our expenditure and income.
This role is central to the development of our Medium Term Financial and Estates Strategies which will need the successful candidate to work collaboratively with senior leaders across the force and with the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner.
In this role, you will also undertake the role of Section 151 Chief Finance Officer which requires high levels of accountability. We are looking for professional candidates who can ensure our audit and compliance within both statutory legislation and the Constabulary’s Scheme of Delegation is exemplary.
The successful candidate will lead our professional finance and estates teams ensuring that they are agile and responsive to the unpredictable work of policing ad focused on supporting the delivery of operational policing both on a day-to day basis and for the long term.
This role provides an exciting and varied opportunity for an experienced Finance professional, with a proven track record of achievement.
Applicants will be a Full member of one of the leading accountancy bodies (CCAB) - preferably Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), with substantial financial management experience in a senior accounting role as well as a sound knowledge and practical skills experience of all aspects of financial and management accounting, particularly the legal requirements of the Audit and Accounts Regulations and Capital Expenditure Controls.
