The role
As our Senior Manager for Children’s Finance, you will be responsible for overall financial management and business partnering support for a gross budget of £335m (including DSG) across the following service areas –
- Children’s Social Care
- Early Help & Prevention
- Education & Inclusion
The postholder will lead a team of staff with responsibility for providing a wide range of financial services, including the provision of specialist and strategic advice and information and support to key transformation programmes, using a business partnering approach. The role will involve working in close partnership with the Children’s Services Leadership team, Senior Finance Officers, Schools and Members.
It is a hugely exciting time to take on responsibility for the financial management of the Children & Families function, with a number of significant transformation programmes underway to deliver as part of our 2024-28 MTFS.
The candidate
You will be a CCAB Qualified Accountant with extensive finance business partnering experience at a local authority or similar, with Children’s Service experience being highly beneficial. We are looking for a passionate and resilient manager, who can build strong working relationships across finance, children’s services and external partners in order to deliver results and ensure the financial sustainability of children’s services. You should be a highly motivated individual with a can-do attitude, committed to achieving a high level of customer satisfaction and making a real and demonstrable difference to the Council’s business and residents.

Location: Agile Worker – working from home with occasional travel to workspaces across the Borough of Cheshire West and Chester.
