The Council recognises that it needs a strong finance team to help navigate these times and these roles are part of investing in, growing and strengthening its capacity. We are looking to build a finance team that is constantly searching for efficiencies and improving effectiveness to maintain a balanced budget, but also ensuring we are driving insightful advice and are confident in providing constructive challenge.

The Strategic Capital and Projects Accountant will report to the Financial Strategy Manager and will be responsible working with a range of stakeholders across the Council, leading on the financial management of the Councils capital programme. This includes ensuring that all proposals are evaluated robustly, and projects are subjected to stringent financial monitoring and that detailed financial reports on all financial aspects of the capital programme are provided to key stakeholders to aid with decision making. The role may be called upon to help develop business strategy, provide financial advice to Cabinet and Committees.

To be suitable for the role, you need to be a fully qualified accountant with proven experience of supporting capital programmes in a large complex organisation. The ability to explain complex financial information in an easy to understand manner is essential.
