The Council recognises that it needs a strong finance team to help navigate these times and these roles are part of investing in, growing and strengthening its capacity. We are looking to build a finance team that is constantly searching for efficiencies and improving effectiveness to maintain a balanced budget, but also ensuring we are driving insightful advice and are confident in providing constructive challenge.

The Head of Finance Business Partnering External Bodies will work closely with both the Operational Director of Finance as well as the Finance Director for the East London Waste Authority (ELWA), providing a full finance service covering management accounting, business partnering and statutory accounts. They will work closely senior stakeholders both internally and externally, becoming a trusted advisor offering strategic real time support and analysis to aid decision making. As ELWA is going through the procurement of its waste disposal contracts, the role will be working alongside specialist procurement and financial advisors helping to steer the authority through this defining period.

To be suitable for the role candidates would need to be a fully qualified commercially aware accountant with both strong business partnering skills and a good knowledge of technical accounting. An understanding of, or experience of contract management and financial modelling would be highly advantageous.
