Situated in the heart of the West Midlands, we serve more than 1.1 million people, spanning from the rural moorlands to major urban areas such as Stoke-on-Trent, Tamworth, Cannock and Burton-upon-Trent. The Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner acts as their voice, holding Staffordshire’s Chief Constable and Chief Fire Officer, and their services, to account and making them answerable to the communities we serve. Following the re-election of Commissioner Ben Adams earlier this year, we are poised for an enviable period of change.

At Staffordshire PFCC, we pride ourselves on being a small, friendly office filled with experienced professionals. Staffordshire’s Police and Fire & Rescue services have undergone significant transformation in recent years, with marked improvements in their performance and infrastructure recognised by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services. We are now seeking a new Director of Finance (S151 Officer) to join us and support our exciting, forward trajectory.
As a pivotal member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will support the Commissioner in delivering his priorities, ensuring that our Police and Fire & Rescue Services operate efficiently and effectively. In this role, your technical financial expertise will be matched by your ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. You will bring to the table your experience in financial strategy, policy development, and statutory compliance. Flexibility and resilience are essential traits as you adapt to the unique needs of our office.

We are therefore seeking a suitably qualified professional to lead and oversee the financial administration of our vital public services. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong grasp of financial management and a commitment to transparency and best practice. Relationships are key in this role, as you will work closely with the S151 Officers of both Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service to maintain the necessary capacity and capability to meet our essential operational requirements.

We work collaboratively and supportively, and someone who can thrive in this environment will do well here within our close-knit team. If you are ready for something out of the ordinary and are committed to continuous learning and collaboration, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to our executive search partners GatenbySanderson for an informal and confidential conversation.
