Chesterfield Borough Council are looking for a suitably qualified, experienced, strategic, and talented finance professional to be our Head of Finance and Accountancy.
You will provide strategic management of the Finance Service, undertaking a full range of financial activities. These will include: the preparation of annual revenue and capital budgets, the provision of timely financial monitoring, and completion of the annual financial statements ensuring compliance with relevant standards and financial regulations. You will also be the Council’s deputy section 151 officer.
As an effective leader, you will have the ability to motivate the team in a changing environment to demonstrate continuous improvement, deliver a customer-centric service and exercise and promote the highest standards of financial stewardship.
You will be an experienced and professional CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant with relevant post qualification experience and evidence of continuous professional development. You will be able to demonstrate a substantial track record of providing successful leadership, financial management and advice at a senior level across a large and complex organization.
You should have a thorough understanding of local government financial regulatory environment and finance systems and have the ability to work under pressure to deliver high-quality outcomes for the Council.
