Ovarian Cancer Action is more than just a charity - we're a community of passionate individuals dedicated to improving outcomes for those affected by ovarian cancer. As the new Head of Finance, Planning and Operations, you will make a significant contribution within the Leadership team and work closely with our Board and Committees to help drive strategic growth, ensure operational excellence, and foster a culture of innovation.
As a key member of our Leadership Team, you will spearhead our financial strategy and lead the successful delivery of strategic planning. You will also lead the Operations Team, which is responsible for HR, IT and Operations whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance regulations. Your expertise in finance and strategic planning will drive our mission forward, enabling us to maximize our impact and achieve our ambitious goals to making a tangible difference in the lives of patients and their families.
Key areas of responsibilities;
- Work with CEO and the Leadership Team to annually refresh the longer-term strategy and one year business and financial plans
- Lead annual delivery of the OCA strategic planning and budgeting, reviewing and strengthening plans and forecasts each quarter.
- Lead OCA person on Audit, Risk and Remuneration Committee, including management of the OCA Risk Register and risk mitigation.
- Support the CEO and Chair in effective and compliant management of the board and committees.
- Oversee provision of robust, timely and meaningful performance and financial information to the Leadership Team, budget managers and trustees, ensuring strong financial controls are in place, produce the annual accounts and oversee the audit process
Who are we looking for?
- A formally qualified Accountant with relevant experience in a planning and organisational performance management role
- You think strategically, seeing the bigger picture, making connections and critiquing the strategy and plan to make it stronger.
- Experience of managing and developing staff.
- An excellent communicator who is able to influence at all levels within the organisation
- Ability to work on own initiative, assess priorities and be proactive.
- Excellent IT and financial management software, with good knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and report writing.
- A practical, pragmatic individual, who enjoys working as part of a small team in a busy environment
