Job Details
Purpose of the role:
The two interim Finance Managers will support the project.
The project will focus on 6 key workstreams that have been identified by the Finance team as areas for potential improvement:
- Journals – creating best practice guidance on how journals are to be posted. Reconciliations – ensuring key reconciliations are up-to-date and meet control objectives. Agresso Administration – identifying opportunities for improving efficiency of general ledger processes, maintenance and ensuring the Chart of Accounts is well aligned for reporting purposes. Income – ensuring robust processes and controls are in place for all major income streams, as well as debt monitoring and write-offs. Payments – reviewing systems, processes and controls in place in relation to different payment mechanisms and creating best practice guidance. Finance Performance & Assurance – creating a suite of tools/ reports to provide assurance to the Finance & Resources Senior Leadership team that key controls and processes are operating effectively and major deadlines are being met.
The postholders will help drive the project forward, engaging with relevant stakeholders in the Finance & Resources directorate to ensure the project is delivered within the allotted timeframe.
The Candidate:
- The successful applicants will be an experienced finance professional with a demonstrable background in driving efficiencies. They will be able to work independently, driving forward the six key workstreams and work collaboratively with the Finance & Resources directorate and the wider organisation on occasion to deliver solutions. Project management experience and stakeholder management skills are essential. Internal/ external audit experience is desirable (but not essential).
The role will largely involve remote working, with occasional travel into the borough when required (e.g., where an in-person workshop is required).
- These roles are outside the scope of IR35.
