Situated at the heart of the East Midlands, with excellent transport links, East Staffordshire continues to change and is one of the fastest growing areas in the Midlands, with significant new housing growth and regeneration – which incorporates our transformational Towns Fund programme. Post Covid and through the cost of living crisis, the council has focussed on serving our communities, investment, innovation and continuing to deliver excellent services to our residents whilst responding positively to the budgetary challenges that the sector faces.

This focus has ensured that the council is in a strong position financially, with a balanced MTFS, and we are now seeking to appoint a Deputy S151 officer who will help to ensure that the council’s long-term financial health and sustainability are maintained.

As an experienced manager with extensive financial experience in a complex multifunctional organisation, you will provide sound financial advice and guidance across the organisation whilst supporting the S151 Officer in their role of providing stewardship of the council’s resources as well as professional  financial advice to services, the leadership team, Council and Cabinet.

Can you bring experience, collaborative leadership and commitment to East Staffordshire? Are you innovative and ambitious to deliver for the communities that we serve, with the background and professional knowledge to inspire teams and bring energy, excellent management skills and solutions to the challenges we face?

If so, this role could be for you.

In addition to the excellent salary, we also provide an attractive employment package that includes:

  • A generous annual leave entitlement of up to 33 days (after 5 years continuous local government service) plus public holidays, an extra statutory day and two concessionary days – which are used to provide for a closedown between Christmas and New Year,
  • A flexible working scheme that allows for up to a further 16 flexi days leave per year,
  • Hybrid working opportunities that support an optimum work life balance arrangement,
  • Access to the local government pension scheme, and
  • Payment of professional subscriptions
