Job Details
We are looking to recruit CCAB qualified or part qualified accountants to join us in a Group Accountant role.
This role is a career grade development post and we are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about completing their qualification, or having completed your qualification in further developing your knowledge and skills with us, and at the more advance level of the role to be taking principal ownership of areas. We are therefore looking for CCAB or equivalent part or fully qualified applicants.
As a fundamental part of the finance team, our group accountants take responsibility for monitoring, advice, analysis and reporting over a wide range of areas giving great exposure and experience, including; budget setting, in-year reporting, outturn, statement of accounts, subsidiaries, projects, grants, transformation and improvements.
Depending on the area of the business and the level of your experience, there may be management responsibility for Accounting Technicians, Accounting Support Officers and Apprentices.
You will have, and will be developing on, your sound technical knowledge, along with excellent communication skills, with the ability to navigate conversations across a range of different stakeholders and as such will be able to outline experience of working in a financial setting. You will have a logical approach to problem-solving to address the challenges that you will encounter and that will stretch your learning and experience. Additionally, you will be confident in your ability to work on your own initiative; to be a team player and to cope with the competing work demands in a methodical and calm manner.
Bristol City Council's Finance Team
We are excited to be bringing to the market several finance roles. In addition to these Group Accountants, we also have Finance Business Partner and Finance Manager opportunities.
These opportunities reflect a period of review and change, with transformation happening across the Council and reflected within the finance function.
We have seen a strengthening of the Council’s finance resource with the appointment of two new Heads of Service, to drive forward a structure with increased strategic finance resources, which has led to us being able to move forward with substantive recruitment across a variety of roles within the finance team.
A key aspect of this change is to embed a business partnering approach across our financial management team and these roles are pivotal in enabling us to provide strategic advice and ensure budget holder engagement.
It’s a really exciting time to be joining the Bristol City Council Finance team, with a real opportunity to be at the frontline of transformation and improvement across the council.
