Job Details

We have an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing a career in Finance to gain experience in our busy Accountancy section. This role offers the opportunity to learn about all aspects of Local authority accounting whilst being given full training and support.

You will undertake a variety of key Finance functions, including the monitoring of the Council’s bank statements, preparation of monthly bank reconciliations, and working in partnership with other Council services to allocate income to the correct Service area. You will also assist in the preparation of revenue and capital budgets and the production of final accounts for several designated service areas.

You will have day-to-day contact with all directorates of the Council and with external partners/customers such as Central Government departments, businesses, and other Local Authorities.  Good customer care skills and the ability to communicate at all levels are essential.

You should have a good educational background, be numerate, and have experience of working with PC applications (preferably Microsoft Word and Excel).

Broxtowe District Council was formed on 1 April, 1974, following the amalgamation of the former Beeston and Stapleford Urban District council, part of the Basford Rural District Council and Eastwood Urban District Council.

In 1977 the Council was granted Borough status and the first Mayor was elected.

  • Broxtowe Council is one of the larger employers in the Borough, with over 700 employees working in a wide variety of service areas.

  • Broxtowe has been twinned with Gütersloh in Germany since 1977 and the year of 2008 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Twinning Links.
