An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Accountant to lead our Finance Business Support team and provide accountancy support to South Hams District and West Devon Borough Councils. We are seeking a leader with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement who is committed to creating a team culture of improvement and service excellence.

You will be experienced in providing a wide range of technical accountancy advice and guidance, ideally within the Public Sector along with experience of managing teams. The role will require you to manage competing demands in workload in a pressurised environment.  You will play a key role in the Finance team managing our Exchequer Services including Debtors, Creditors and Purchasing as well as overseeing key reconciliations. The role will be expected to prepare and present financial reports to the Head of Finance and elected Members, focusing on areas such as debt recovery.

You will ideally be CCAB qualified or undertaking study towards becoming qualified
