The post is based in our modern Riverside House offices in the heart of Rotherham, well located for public transport from the Sheffield City Region. We have reviewed and reorganised the Finance service to ensure that it has the capacity and leadership required to deliver the excellent service that is needed and expected to achieve the Council’s future ambitions. The post holders will have responsibility for supporting the delivery of high-level financial advice, guidance and support to the Children and Young People’s Directorate.

The roles will support the Head of Finance and Finance Manager in the delivery of work programmes jointly set by the Strategic Director of Children & Young People’s Services and Strategic Director – Finance & Customer Services in the delivery of financial strategies to support transformation taking place across the Directorate.

About you

We are looking for enthusiastic, committed financial professionals, with the experience, skills, and knowledge to quickly integrate into a busy business partnering team. You will hold a CCAB qualification.

You will be positive in your approach, proactive, and be able to present complex information in a clear and easy to understand manner, to ensure understanding by a wide variety of stakeholders.

In addition to demonstrating financial flair, attention to detail and being process driven, you will appreciate the wider view and impact that decisions will have on other services provided by the council.

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2024 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
