At Walsall Council, we’re transforming, and so are our Financial Services. We’re changing the way the council works so that we can provide an even better customer experience, increase staff satisfaction, and improve our service performance. It’s all about achieving the very best for our colleagues, customers and communities. Now, we’re looking for Finance Business Partners to help us achieve our ambitions. It’s an exciting chance to shape our future, and your own career.

We are looking to recruit into a Finance Business Partner role, to help support the Technical Accounting team, with the main focus of the role being to support the council in fulfilling its statutory requirements for the Collection Fund, alongside other technical financial work, and the role will be supporting our service managers and directors in service.

Your can-do attitude will help you get to know the service and relevant managers. With an in-depth understanding of their needs and challenges, you’ll confidently take ownership of the service. As part of this, you’ll convey complex financial information to a range of stakeholders to become a proactive and trusted financial adviser and help everyone to get to grips with the financials. Your analytical skills mean you’ll also be involved in mid to long-term financial planning. Everything you do will help to improve the service and its outcomes.

To join, you’ll need to hold a CCAB/CIMA body and be actively undertaking active CPD. Or you’ll be working towards this qualification. If you are currently studying, we provide opportunities to continue a funded CCAB qualification. Ideally, this will be supported by your background within local government finance. But importantly, you’ll have experience of providing financial stewardship, creating effective relationships with stakeholders and exciting everyone about change. Enthusiastic yet pragmatic, you’ll quickly have a positive impact.

In return, you’ll enjoy a generous annual leave entitlement of up to 33 days, the potential for a further 12 days’ leave per year, and a career average pension scheme. Plus, we offer working from home and flexible working arrangements so that you can achieve a great work-life balance.
