At FCDO Services, we work with government-level customers worldwide, offering services including secure construction, secure IT and digital solutions, secure logistics and more. We build and repair embassies. We carefully move government servers to the Cloud. We make sure critical deliveries stay safe as they move across the world. And in addition, we provide UK taxpayers with value for money.

None of this would be possible without the work of our UK Finance department, and as our Financial Accountant you’ll lead, support and oversee the work of a small team, keep up to date with changes to financial standards, develop changes to practices, processes and policies to ensure adherence, and strengthen internal control. You’ll also enable colleagues across the Financial Control Office to deliver their service, whether it’s by providing accurate reports to senior management on our monthly trading position or reviewing and monitoring our compliance controls.

Accurate reporting that drives exceptional impact

You’ll be a qualified chartered accountant and have good experience of preparing financial and management account statements. Working knowledge of ERP or a similar type of accounting system would be a plus, as would expertise in the preparation of Whole of Government accounts. You’ll have a number of other key responsibilities, including analysing and educating on our trading position, monitoring gross and net margin, developing the reports that drive our business, playing a role in end-of-year accounts production, and providing information to the National Audit Office to support their interim and year-end audit. There’ll be plenty of challenges involved, but plenty of exposure and recognition too.

Support a team that supports critical government work

Our organisation is constantly focused on our customer promise – our drive to be reliable, responsive and build relationships. To do that, we need an exceptionally co-ordinated team – and the Financial Control Office is no exception to that. From day to day, you’ll be liaising with a range of colleagues. You could be advising our Chief Finance Officer on performance against key targets, or supporting the National Audit Office as they audit the annual accounts you help prepare. You might even be working with the Systems team to ensure we’re getting all the right financial information from our IT systems. But no matter the task, whoever you work with, your enthusiasm and cooperation will shine through – and you’ll help us provide a better overall service because of it.

Find your job bigger – and your benefits too

At FCDO Services, you’ll be applying knowledge from your learning and building on your skills, but you’ll also be doing it for an organisation with extraordinary impact. The sense of purpose is refreshing – and so are the benefits, whether it’s the perks and pension that come with a Civil Service career, or our excellent support for work-life balance, including flexible working and an onsite OFSTED-registered nursery. You’ll find that you’re equipped to do your best work here, with an impact you never imagined. In short? It’s your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared before joining us, so you’ll need to undergo a vetting process if you’re successful in your application. This role would require you to undergo Security Clearance (SC). You can find out more about vetting on our website.
