There’s never been a more exciting time to join Doncaster Council.

We are passionate about Doncaster - it’s a great place to live, do business and visit.

We have plenty to shout about – Doncaster is the UK’s best connected location, we have many major developments in the pipeline, a vibrant urban centre with a thriving arts and cultural scene, sport and leisure attractions, wonderful green spaces and a fascinating heritage.  We firmly believe, as do our partners, that Doncaster is the place to be with a bright future and ambitions ahead of it.  But don’t just take our word for it – anyone joining the council, can look forward to expanding their knowledge and skills in a dynamic, creative and nurturing environment while truly making a difference to the communities we serve.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Finance team in Doncaster.

The Directorate Finance Manager is a key role in our team, delivering high quality financial management advice and guidance to officers, members and partners. You will be joining a well-regarded dedicated finance team that encourages innovative and creative thinking. A positive, supportive and proactive work environment is promoted, with regular feedback and recognition.

The ideal candidate will have a professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA or equivalent) and a proven track record of successfully preparing budgets, monitoring budget targets, completing final accounts in a complex and customer focussed environment and liaising with partners such as Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group.  Strong leadership skills will be required to organise, motivate and inspire an experienced team supporting the Council’s Adults, Health & Wellbeing and Public Health directorates.  The two directorates cover a variety of services including Adult Social Care, Communities and Leisure. The reforms to Adult Social Care coming from the Building Back Better and People at the Heart of Care white papers will provide particularly challenging work over the next few years.

Further details about the responsibilities and requirements of the role are contained in the job role summary and job profile.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive.
