THE ROLE:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team incorporating Internal Audit, Fraud, Risk, Governance and Insurance Services. As a key player you will work alongside an already well-established team of 17 audit professionals to deliver outstanding audit services.

We are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills who has the confidence to convey sensitive information in a timely and professional manner. In order to support the provision of the annual internal audit opinion on the overall adequacy and effectiveness of our governance, risk and control framework, building and managing relationships with stakeholders across the council will be essential.

Reporting directly to the Principal Auditor and working alongside internal audit colleagues you will be responsible for acting as the Lead Auditor for assigned reviews as well as preparing and presenting audit reports to Senior Managers across a broad portfolio of internal and external clients.

This is an extremely varied role requiring an adaptable, responsive approach, you will work to timescales and deadlines ensuring information is provided in an informative and solution focused format.

KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

This role requires a methodical and organised professional, the specific skills we are looking for include:

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Self-starter with high levels of self sufficiency
• Analytical with the ability to problem solve
• Engaging and collaborative with the ability to convey complex messages

Your experience should come with an AAT, or Certificate in Internal Auditing or working towards one of these qualifications or equivalent qualification and professional membership.
