The Internal Audit team is professional, supportive and above all forward thinking and keen for auditors to achieve career progression within our career graded structure and job satisfaction via further training opportunities.

The successful applicant will use their skills to deliver audit assignments, advise clients on control and assurance matters and support our audit service in this challenging and changeable environment. Strong communication skills and being able to maintain positive working relationships with our clients, colleagues and other stakeholders is a key part of the job as well as the ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a hard-working and agile team. You will possess the appropriate experience, skills and qualifications to support the delivery of our agreed audit plans in accordance with our career progression structure and as the Council invests increasingly in technology, candidates who can demonstrate technological expertise will be of particular interest.

Primarily we are looking to recruit to full time positions but flexibility of hours, such as part time requests, can be considered for the right candidate.

Most of the time will require working from home or a client and the work base is Shirehall.  Successful candidates will undertake, dependent on entry level, the planning and management of various audits covering a wide range of the Council’s functions and that of our external clients and be able to present findings in a clear and concise manner.  A relevant degree or equivalent qualification is essential.  Applicants studying for AAT or PIIA or part qualified/ studying for a CCAB qualification or CISA will be offered full study support.  Knowledge of PSIAS, good IT, report writing and analytical skills, practical experience of auditing and highly demonstrable communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this role.  At the top of the career grade you will need to demonstrate considerable and wide-reaching internal audit experience.
