We have an exciting opportunity that could be the next step in your career.

The Derbyshire Dales is a beautiful place to work in and visit.  Once you’re here we know you’ll want to see more.  We have fantastic villages, towns and countryside in the Dales and the Peak District National Park, all within easy reach of Sheffield, Manchester, Nottingham and Derby.

In addition, we can offer you excellent employment benefits including access to membership of the Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme, free car parking, leisure discounts, a generous annual leave entitlement and opportunities for flexible or remote working. The post will be based at the Town Hall in Matlock, though remote working would be considered for part of the time.

We are looking for a motivated team player to join our Financial Services Team as a senior accountant.

This varied role reports to the Financial Services Manager and the duties and responsibilities are split over 2 post holders. We are seeking a competent team player to take on the role set out as “Post Holder 2” in the job description and person specification. This includes being the lead on accounts payable, accounts receivable and the Financial Management System, as well as the delivery of revenue budget preparation, monitoring and reporting for a range of services and supervising a sub-team within Financial Services.

You will be a CCAB qualified accountant, or finalist, with experience in a financial environment and looking to develop your skills and competencies. Experience in Public Sector Finance, preferably in Local Government Finance, and especially in District Council revenue accounting is desirable.

You will have excellent team working, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide high quality financial information and advice to a wide range of users.
