The mission of the Internal Audit Division is to enhance and protect organisational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice and insight.  It is a separate independent division within the HSE with responsibility for ensuring that a comprehensive programme of audit work is carried out annually throughout the HSE. The purpose of this work is to provide assurance that controls and procedures are operated in accordance with best practice and with the appropriate regulations, and to make recommendations for the improvement of such controls and procedures. 

The scope of Internal Audit covers all systems and activities throughout the HSE and bodies totally or partially funded by the HSE.  The Division also currently provides internal audit services to TUSLA the Child & Family Agency.

Reporting to the HSE Audit & Risk Committee, the National Director will be accountable for leading the Internal Audit function.  The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of an independent, objective assurance and consulting function within the HSE.  The National Director will have an administrative reporting relationship to the CEO.

The current vacancy available is permanent and whole time. 

The post is pensionable. A panel may be created from which permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part time duration may be filled. The tenure of these posts will be indicated at “expression of interest” stage.
