Your New Role:

Our Client - A North London Borough - is looking for an experienced Housing Development Accountant to join their team. You will be tasked with the following:

  • Provide financial advice regarding schemes, dependent on the input required and how far each project has progressed
  • Prepare financial monitoring statements for estate renewal schemes, hold meetings with the relevant project managers to update information and liaise with the Finance manager HRA to provide updates to the HRA Business Plan 
  • Provide financial implications for all reports prepared by the Housing Development and Regeneration Teams, including consultation with the team to challenge and verify proposed approaches, understand alternative options considered, etc
  • Close the project accounts in compliance with CIPFA guidance and audit requirements.  Liaise with the Finance manager Capital, Companies, Corporate Finance, internal and external auditors as required
  • Liaise with developers, keep abreast of the fast-developing housing development   environment and best practice, propose new and innovative financial approaches to development, undertake viability analyses, update the Finance Teams and Housing Development and Regeneration Teams on any new approaches that can be considered, assist with bidding opportunities
  • Attendance at Project Board, Cabinet, Executive and Departmental Management Team meetings,

Your Experience / Skills

  • A CCAB accountancy qualification, or part qualified and actively studying for such a qualification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of housing development finance and experience in providing high level advice, support and challenge on all financial aspects of development and estate renewal.
  • Excellent commercial, numerical and analytical skills, including the ability to analyse and interpret detailed and complex financial and other information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present a range of complex and detailed financial and other issues to a diverse audience including councillors and senior officers and to develop and manage productive relationships with both external and internal contacts and agencies.
  • Advanced IT skills in particular use of estate renewal modelling software, excel, PowerPoint and word, including the ability to design, construct and interpret complex spreadsheets, business plans and financial models. 
  • Substantial experience of providing financial advice and support to senior officers, members and external stakeholders regarding all aspects of regeneration and estate renewal, from financial viability analysis, through procurement to scheme completion.
