We are looking for a Corporate Manager – Finance and Commissioning and Procurement/Deputy S151 to lead the councils financial and commissioning and procurement function and support the wider Leadership Team across the councils.

This role will lead a diverse team including the delivery of the finance and commissioning and procurement transformation plan.

The successful person will share our values, commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities.

About the role:

Working closely with the Assistant Director – Corporate Resources to champion excellence in financial management and commissioning and procurement.

Accountabilities will include:

  • Leading the Finance, Commissioning and Procurement team and ensuring it is business-aligned and valued as a strategic partner by the organisation.
  • Developing and delivering the strategic approach to commissioning and procurement that supports the achievement of outcomes and demonstrates value for money. 
  • Providing organisational leadership for the development and maintenance of the strategies and systems that demonstrate strong financial stewardship and accountability across the councils. 
  • Professionally leading the Finance, Commissioning and Procurement Team in a way that allows for flexibility and enables individuals to grow and develop. 
  • Deputising for the Section 151 Officer in their absence.

About You:

You will:

  • already be a proactive and motivated leader with experience of managing people, budgets and resources within a local authority/local government organisation
  • be a fully CCAB qualified accountant CCAB (ICAEWACCACIPFAICAS and Chartered Accountants Ireland) with sound local government financial knowledge and experience
  • have excellent communication skills which are essential, as is political sensitivity and the ability to influence at all (and especially senior) levels of the organisation.
