Head of Finance (Environment & Community Services and Chief Executive’s Department)

Salary: c £84,907 per annum
Fulltime, 36 per week

Location: Bromley Civic Centre (hybrid working model applies)

This is an opportunity to work for an authority that has received nationally recognised finance awards including being a Public Finance Awards 2021 Winner. You will lead a highly motivated, strong performing and friendly finance team.

The post reports to the Director of Finance and works closely with other Chief Officers. You will lead on financial arrangements for Environment & Community Services and Chief Executive’s Department.

There are many challenges impacting on the service, including the Council’s transformation agenda, future environmental initiatives and supporting budget holders in addressing the financial challenges for the future. This post is critical in supporting these areas.

The postholder will lead, manage and develop a team of finance staff, meeting 151 responsibilities on behalf of the Director of Finance and make a significant contribution to the strategic direction of financial services and the specified service department.

We need a flexible, highly motivated individual with proven financial acumen, advisory and interpersonal skills. You will need to be innovative and have a background in dealing with complex financial issues, providing strategic financial advice and having the ability to address key financial matters. Experience or working in local government would be an advantage.

We are looking for a CCAB qualified accountant or an AAT Accountant with extensive knowledge and experience. This is a great opportunity to play a significant role in assuring continuous improvement.
