An exciting opportunity to join Moorfields Eye Hospital’s finance team as Senior Management Accountant for Research and Development. This role assists the Finance Business Partner in supporting the world’s leading research and development team in ophthalmology.
As the principal operational finance contact for Research and Development, this post is responsible for delivering financial management and reporting to the R&D team. The post holder will provide expert accounting and business knowledge, analytical support and clear presentation of financial and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues across a portfolio of research projects. This will include areas such as research proposal costings; supporting principal investigators in managing project budgets; and managing the R&D ledger. More widely, you’ll play a key role in the organisation’s financial management, manage one member of the team and deliver professional support to key stakeholders.
The appropriate candidate should be fully qualified or a finalist within a CCAB body, or equivalent, with an extensive grounding in management accounting, budgetary control and forecasting. Experience in supporting and, occasionally, challenging budget holders at a senior level is important, and a key attribute will be the ability to explain highly complex financial issues clearly and concisely non-finance colleagues. Costing experience is very helpful and ideally, you will previously have had experience of working with R&D and commercial teams in either NHS, university or equivalent research environments. Strong communication skills and the ability to rapidly form effective working relationships at all levels will be crucial.
