Enable North Yorkshire was announced in April 2019 and took over the management of business support services for North Yorkshire Police (NYP), North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services (NYFRS) and the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (OPFCC) in April 2020; comprising People Services, ICT, Finance, Business Design & Assurance and Estates & Logistics. The vision is for a more strategic transformation of police and fire collaboration that can deliver genuine change, focussing on outcomes for the public rather than organisational sovereignty.  

Following a recent restructure, we are currently seeking both an Accountant and Senior Accountant to join an exciting new team set-up within the Finance department.

Senior Accountant Role

Managing and developing a team of 11, including the Accounts transactional team, the Senior Accountant will provide support and mentorship, and instil high quality customer service and financial governance. This is a varied role which includes being the lead on the delivery of capital budget monitoring and reporting, playing a key role in the development of the budget and medium-term financial plan, and driving the timely delivery of the statutory statement of accounts.

The post will also play a lead role in the development of joint financial systems across NYP and NYFRS to ensure effective reporting and transaction processing in line with legislation, codes of practice and governance arrangements.

The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified, diligent and motivated, and able to represent Finance senior management as required. A broad base of financial experience and knowledge, highly developed communication skills and an understanding of complex financial systems is essential.

The salary for this role is £41,718 - £44,928

Accountant Role

Within the role of Accountant, you will deal will all aspects of budgets and budget management, both revenue and capital, across the organisations. This will include providing specialist advice and support to both Finance colleagues and operational budget holders. Reporting to the Senior Accountant you will provide insight and analysis to support financial plans, identify future budget risks and opportunities, and contribute to the timely delivery of the statutory statements of accounts.

The successful candidate will be a customer-focused individual, with excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships and influence senior stakeholders. Previous experience of delivering improvements in financial and business processes and interpreting complex changing environments is essential.

You must also be actively studying for a CCAB qualification or have equivalent experience.

The salary for this role is £35,484 - £38,376
