Our Financial Reporting and Controls team sits in Financial Management, leading a wide range of financial reporting and accounting practice. This includes monitoring compliance with financial controls, delivering outstanding technical advice, producing our annual financial statements, and achieving a successful external audit.

The Role:

This is the ideal opportunity to help support financial accounting, reconciliation and reporting across a large range of corporate functions. Including rotations on Balance Sheet management, technical Revenue and Capital, Cash and Bank, VAT and taxation, your role will be varied and challenging.

You will be responsible for monitoring compliance with several key financial controls throughout the year, identifying issues and resolving these with finance business partners and other stakeholders. The role is key in supporting the annual closure of our statutory accounts and dealing with external audit queries to obtain an unqualified audit opinion.

About You:

You will bring experience using integrated accounting systems (such as SAP), as well as the ability to run reports, interpret and reconcile financial data, and produce excellent quality working papers. Your proficiency in using spreadsheets, completing financial returns, and producing process documents will be hugely valuable. Your confidence in dealing with all audit queries that come your way will evidence your credibility.

Alongside experience of closing accounts in public sector organisations from either a corporate or service perspective, a good understanding of local government accounting regulations and CIPFA Codes of Practice is essential.
