Salary: £36,371 - £45,648 pa (Subject to Job Evaluation)
Hours: 37 hours a week
Contract: Permanent
Based: Lewes and Eastbourne
Eastbourne Borough and Lewes District Councils have a well established and progressive partnership: two sovereign councils each with a unique identity and a shared vision of the future. Through joining our workforces and fostering a modern collaborative culture, we are serving our residents in a more customer-focused and cost-effective way. And that has never been more important. As we emerge from the Coronavirus pandemic, we’re determined to achieve the very best for our communities – driving a Recovery and Reset journey that touches everyone who works and lives here.
As a Systems Accountant, you'll oversee the effective day-to-day operation of the Council Financial Information System (Civica). You'll ensure they're available, updated and fit-for-purpose, and that council finance staff are trained to use them. Whether you're extracting data, system testing, or troubleshooting, you'll deliver efficient support to users. And, you'll play a key technical role in the development, implementation and improvement of the systems and financial procedures.
The role will require you to easily move from undertaking detailed “hands-on” finance / accountancy tasks to analysing and advising on complex strategic financial issues. The position offers the opportunity to consolidate and broaden your existing skills and knowledge whilst developing new ones that will enhance your own personal career development.
To join, you'll need to be AAT/part qualified and CCAB qualified or have evidence of working at an equivalent technical level. You'll have excellent time management skills and demonstrable experience prioritising your workload and meeting deadlines. And, you'll be motivated to continually develop your skills and knowledge. In return for your expertise, you'll receive a competitive salary as well as flexible working options, which covers hybrid, home and fixed working approach to work-life balance.
