We are seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the role of Principal Benefits Manager. This is a pivotal role managing the processing of  benefits of Merseyside Pension Fund Members.

The successful candidate will work to the Head of Pension Administration and as a key member of the management team will oversee implementation of the fund's business plan focusing on the Benefits Service Area with an emphasis on people development and  business transformation through greater use of automation.

You will require in depth technical knowledge of the LGPS Regs, HMRC legislation, and industry wide pension law. You must have proven leadership skills and the ability to engage and inspire members of your team, be well organised, adept at managing a workload to multiple deadlines, with the ability to coordinate a diverse range of activities with a need to react objectively to enquiries and complaints .

You will be responsible for leading initiatives on continuous improvement and the efficient control of business processes, performance monitoring, quality assurance of member pension entitlements, effective governance of regulatory and policy matters, employer engagement including risk management and people management. As a proactive individual you will champion the professional integrity of the service and actively drive compliance with industry best practice, engage with all stakeholders including members of the Pensions Committee, Local Pension Board, employers and central government departments.

Applicants must have a Diploma or Foundation Degree in Pensions Administration and Management or the ability to demonstrate in-depth experience which supports the key responsibilities of the post.

The post is office based in Liverpool City Centre
