Finance Manager (Taxation)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Finance Manager (Taxation) to join our team. Based at East Sussex County Council in Lewes, this role forms part of an integrated service delivering a comprehensive treasury management and taxation service across East Sussex County Council, Surrey County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council under a shared arrangement.

You will lead on delivering an excellent taxation service to a diverse range of organisations including the partner authorities and other external partner organisations, with a primary focus on VAT. You will be responsible for providing accurate and clear VAT advice to services, liaising with our tax advisors for more complex matters. You will manage a small team to ensure all organisations meet their statutory requirements around VAT and other taxes.

To be successful, you will ideally have a sound working knowledge of VAT within Local Government. However. we are open to applications from candidates with more limited experience with the right skill set and are willing to commit to specialist training. You will need to have strong organisational skills and an eye for technical detail alongside the ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships, and be able to lead a small team to deliver a comprehensive service.
