Can you bring experience, collaborative leadership and commitment to Falkirk?   Are you innovative and ambitious, with the background and professional knowledge to inspire others and bring pace, energy, excellent management skills and sector-leading solutions to the big challenges we face?  If so, then this role could be for you.

The Falkirk Council area continues to transform and is one of the fastest growing areas in Scotland. In the wake of Covid, we need to focus on transformational change, growth, investment, innovation and respond positively to budgetary challenges, whilst continuing to deliver excellent services to our citizens and communities. These are all crucial to Falkirk’s future.

We now have an opportunity for a Chief Finance Officer role within the Council.  As an experienced senior manager with extensive leadership experience in a complex multifunctional organisation, you will lead the Council’s Finance team.  Providing strategic direction, leadership and effective management, you will provide sound stewardship of the Council’s resources as well as professional financial advice to the Council, its Committees and Services.  In addition you will act as Chief Finance Officer (Proper Officer) in terms of our Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973.

You will be an experienced professional who will complement our management team, supporting continuous improvement, new ways of working, excellence and efficiency in all we deliver.

As a candidate, you will excel in managing complex and strategic issues and have a successful track record in leading and managing innovative change.  You will have financial and risk management experience in a relevant environment and have a working knowledge of the functions within the remit of this post.  A commitment to ongoing further professional development would also be expected.

Just a 30 minute drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow, Falkirk is ideally situated in the very heart of Scotland.  As an employer of choice, we offer flexible benefits and working arrangements, along with a culture which is committed to learning, improving and growing.

We are committed to building on our existing strong working practices, using local partnerships and making sure our citizens are at the heart of everything we do.  If this challenge is something you can deliver on, we’d be interested to hear from you.
