Dacorum Borough Council is a district council in West Hertfordshire covering the towns of Tring, Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding areas.
We are an ambitious Council. We are committed to working in partnership to create a borough which enables the communities of Dacorum to thrive and prosper. We are investing in our borough, building our own housing as well as improving existing properties.
We offer staff flexible and home-working, together with a range of other benefits. The majority of the Council’s Finance service work from home, meaning you can be based anywhere and be a part of our team. The Council’s main offices are located in Hemel Hempstead, just outside the M25 and a 25-minute train journey from Central London. They offer a location from which to work for those who wish to be office- based.
We are looking to appoint two Accountants within our Financial Planning and Analysis team, to help support the Council in the delivery of efficient, effective and modern services.
Part qualified CCAB or CIMA (or equivalent), you will provide strategic financial advice, planning and support to colleagues across the Council. You will need strong analytical skills to ensure accurate and relevant financial information is provided where it is needed in the organisation. You will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, making excellent communication skills essential.
You can expect to work with a broad range of services, ranging from Legal and Finance through to front- line services such as Environmental Services. One of the two roles available supports the Council’s Housing Landlord function (the Housing Revenue Account) and leads on the financial modelling associated the 30 year HRA business plan.
We set high standards for our staff, expecting all to demonstrate our corporate behaviours:
- Be positive
- Take responsibility
- Be reliable
- Work with others to deliver a great service
In return, the Council offers an attractive benefits package including generous holiday entitlement, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to training and development opportunities.
A check will be undertaken with the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly Criminal Records Bureau) to ensure that the successful candidate for the above post has no relevant convictions.
The deadline for applications will be midnight on the closing date shown in the advert details.
