Gloucestershire Police Finance Team is looking for two outstanding qualified Accountants to join our ambitious, innovative and forward-thinking team.

You need to be made of strong stuff to work in Policing – whether it is in enabling services or on the frontline. As the business partner to two of four senior leaders in the organisation, and a key member of their leadership teams you will be close to Policing reality on a daily basis. Without owning the delivery of those services we expect you, over time, to become expert in understanding what each does, what they achieve, and what they need of you to become even better at what they do.

In order to do that you will be a qualified accountant with enough commercial acumen to challenge financial performance, a good eye that identifies risk, the bravery to support the Force to exploit opportunities and the strength of character to ensure that we always focus our limited resources in line with the strategic objectives of the Force. At the same time you will grow strong relationships with key stakeholders inside and outside the organisation, getting business done more effectively through the confidence that you inspire in those stakeholders.

In this challenging role you will work closely with the Head of Finance and Chief Accountant and colleagues in driving innovation and efficiency for the department and force.  As a supportive leader to a small team you will work with them to deliver on our commitment to diversity and inclusion and to develop them to maximise their potential.

Gloucestershire Police is proud of its reputation for continuous improvement in all areas, so drive, enthusiasm, and the ability to inspire others are vital for success in this role.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and dynamic qualified accountant who will be adept at communicating and influencing senior stakeholders with tact and diplomacy.  Able to interpret/analyse highly complex financial and statistical data, reason, evaluate, draw appropriate inferences to enable innovative problem solving.

Further details are included in the attached job description.  If you would like to discuss the role further, please contact our Head of Finance, Alix Garfath-Cox (alix.garfath-cox@gloucestershire.pnn.police.uk)
