Location: Hybrid with home working and office in Kingston/Sutton

Leave Entitlement: 31 days

Sutton & Kingston Shared Finance Service, established in April 2017, provides financial services to the London Borough of Sutton and the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

We deliver professional accountancy and financial management, commercial advice and expert analysis, innovative finance operations and financial inclusion services for vulnerable residents.

We’ve achieved a lot in our first four years of operation and are ambitious in our vision to do more. We were proud to have been shortlisted for 2020 Public Finance Award for Alternative Service Delivery Model of the Year, due to the service we provide to our customers, including front-line Council services, Councillors, residents, Council owned companies, businesses and partner organisations from other sectors.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Finance Lead - Capital and Commercial to join our talented Commercial Finance and Investment team.

The role will be required to support the Commercial Finance and Investment function, supporting the development and delivery of the Capital Investment programmes of one of the two Councils.

In post, you’ll ensure the Council complies with statutory requirements and deadlines, balancing planned and reactive requirements and delivering subject matter expertise on commercial activities, capital programming and the investment financing programme.

What’s Needed

To succeed in the role you will need sound knowledge and understanding of capital programming, budgeting and accounting in a large and complex organisation.

Furthermore, you’ll understand financial modelling and business case development, including viability assessments or options appraisals.  

You’ll be confident in using digital technologies effectively to deliver customer focussed finance activities, including Google applications, Word, Excel (advanced level), Powerpoint and software packages to record and manipulate data.

Finally, you’ll need to be comfortable with providing advice and challenging budget holders, managers and finance colleagues when needed.
