‘Courageous, ambitious and determined’

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are at the forefront of joint working and are a progressive award-winning partnership – two sovereign councils, each with a strong sense of identity but with a shared vision of the future and a fully integrated workforce.

We pride ourselves on being Innovative, fresh-thinking, dynamic and values led. We are courageous, forward thinking and not afraid to try new things if it’s in the best interests of our residents. We currently have 4 commercially successful companies and are truly committed to embracing new ways of agile working for the long term – something we were on the journey towards before Covid. This is a really exciting opportunity to join not one but two highly committed, ambitious and determined Councils on our continued transformational journey.

As our new Assistant Director of Corporate Resources, you will have an opportunity to truly shape our future structure and direction of travel and to work strategically as part of our wider leadership team. We need a team player to join our high-performing, committed, resident-focused and collaborative shared management and staff teams. As the lead across all resources, including people services, you will play an integral role in achieving our ambitions, whilst ensuring we remain true and committed to our core values and our enabling culture.

Professionally qualified, you will bring excellent technical capability and an exemplar track record in modernising a resources function, developing and leading the team to equip them with the necessary capabilities to take the service forward. Whether currently in the public or private sector, you will be inspiring, driven and enabling and will bring a strong track record of leading and supporting organisational change as well as working strategically. With two sets of Members, this is a complex and challenging, yet highly rewarding, role for someone who has a strong political antenna.

For a confidential discussion about the role, please contact Rob Naylor on 07922 417550 or Ben Cox on 07809 374692.
