About this job

The Finance Business Partner role sits within the Service Finance Team at Barking and Dagenham. We are looking for a qualified accountant who has all the key behaviours expected from our organisation and who can provide both insight and challenge in working alongside the front-line services. This position requires a commitment and passion to work with stakeholders to deliver not only to budget but in delivering the right outcome for our residents. The successful candidate will be able to build strong stakeholder relationships, have excellent communication skills and be able to tackle problems with an innovative approach. We offer a competitive salary and a varied and interesting role within our service where you will play a key role in helping us achieve our ambitions for The Borough and our residents and businesses.

Special requirements for this post

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant, and a member of an accredited accountancy body.

About you

You will be a flexible, creative, innovative, and enthusiastic team player with proven communication skills and a proactive approach to tackling problems and finding solutions. You will have a thorough understanding of how to provide financial advice, information, challenge, support, to budget holders particularly in relation to the planning, monitoring and control of budgets, to ensure the right decision is made for the Borough, our residents, and businesses. We want people that embody our organisational values and care about our communities and borough. If you have the knowledge, skills and experience required for this role and share our values, we would like to hear from you.

About us

Over the past four years we have gone through an ambitious transformation programme to ensure we can deliver real change within our community. Transforming the way, we work and deliver our services. Our goal is to harness the borough’s potential as London’s growth opportunity and to deliver growth that is inclusive and benefits all our residents – one borough, one community, no one left behind. As a council, we are agile, responsive, and data-led, with the needs of our residents at the forefront of what we do. Barking and Dagenham is a New Kind of Council.

As Local Government Chronicle Awards 2018’s Council of the Year, and with Gold Investors in People status showing our commitment to our staff, there has never been a more exciting time to work for Barking and Dagenham Council. We offer a competitive pay package, a positive approach to flexible working, investment in your development, and a commitment to your wellbeing.

If you believe you have the right skills and attributes to shape and drive our service forward we are looking to hear from you.
