Following a restructure of the Finance Service, a number of exciting opportunities are available. The Finance Service at Rochdale has a strong background and wishes to grow in its knowledge and improvements especially in areas of automation and best practice. These aspects have been recognised with the service being shortlisted by Public Finance as a finalist for Finance Team of the Year (Council) 2021.
The Finance Manager post will be working to support Economy, Neighbourhoods and Resources (FSS).
The postholder will be responsible for managing and leading the finance support teams providing a range of accounting, commercial, business planning and advisory services. You will have the opportunity to work with Senior Officers and Members within the Council and offer support to officers working with partner organisations. The role will support the Deputy Chief Finance Officer by ensuring that all relevant Government and grant returns, budget setting, monitoring and final accounts for these services are produced in a timely and accurate manner. This post will also be involved with the ongoing improvements of the Finance Service and take a lead in key work streams within this programme.
The successful candidates will preferably be working in a managerial role within a Local Authority or similar organisation, have strong organisational and communication skills and be familiar with collaborative working.
Candidates are required to be qualified under one of the recognised CCAB professional accountancy bodies (preferably CIPFA).

Graduated Mandatory Unpaid Leave is applicable for this post, there will be a pay deduction from salary each month equating to 5 days per year. This will be pro rata for part time/part year employees.
