Finance Transformation Manager

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

Location: LDNPA Headquarters, Kendal (including hybrid working as required)

Grade D: £43,667 - £50,096 pa (pay award pending)

Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to transform the Lake District National Park Authority’s Finance Service, developing a business partner approach to the provision of financial services to the Authority and its budget holders. You will lead a highly motivated and committed team, keen to drive financial system and process improvements to provide an effective financial service to the Authority. You will be responsible for leading and driving innovation within the team, supporting a cultural shift towards new ways of working.

Your role

The Lake District National Park Authority Finance Team provide a high quality and reliable service to the Authority that is valued across the organisation. In the spirit of continuous improvement, we are looking to modernise our financial systems and processes to support innovation, deliver operational efficiencies and enhance support to budget holders. You will lead the delivery of Financial Services to the Authority, developing and managing a programme of transformational change to systems and working practices that will improve financial services to the organisation.

This interesting and diverse financial role will involve organisational leadership in the areas of financial accounting, management accounting, capital appraisal and the provision of financial advice to a wide range of commercial trading operations and grant funded projects. You will require a great blend of leadership skills, technical skills, and innovation; harnessing the skills of your team to deliver a great service.

You will be based at our headquarters in Kendal, but we are open to discussions about working in a more flexible, hybrid way if desired.

You will be part of the Authority’s Leadership Team, and will work closely with Members, Management and budget holders to deliver a great service.

About you

You will be a qualified accountant with a track record of leading a team and delivering a high quality financial service to customers. You will have experience of leading financial system and process changes to improve ways of working for your organisation and will be able to demonstrate a high degree of technical competence in your role.

You will be confident and comfortable leading service development, providing financial advice to a wide range of projects and liaising closely with Members, Managers and budget holders as part of the Leadership Team.

Your leadership style will be inclusive and you will inspire your team and organisational colleagues to move forward towards new ways of working.

Ideally your professional background will involve a good working knowledge of local government finance, though this is not an essential requirement for the role.
