The HSE is a unique place in which to pursue your career goals. As the independent regulator who is responsible for keeping the nation’s workforce safe, we are tasked with assessing the suitability of a wide variety of working environments, investigating accidents and incidents, and providing advice to ensure the highest health and safety standards are being maintained. Our work is deeply interesting, and will provide you with a fascinating backdrop against which to further your expertise.

The role

This is an interesting chance to take on a deeply varied role. Joining our Planning, Finance and Procurement division, you will help us implement new IRFS accounting standards, and see to it that we are complying with the relevant policies, frameworks and guidelines relating to projects including debt, income and capital. With the freedom to develop our current accounting policies, you will share your subject matter expertise, particularly when implementing new accounting standards including IFRS 16 (Leases), and updating financial models such as the IFRS Debt Impairment Model. From analysing data through to presenting your findings to senior audiences, this is a great role for an astute individual who enjoys coming up with innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Your background

As a CCAB qualified Accountant, you will have a background in driving change and building and maintaining new accounting standards and models. As such, you will have experience of making effective decisions in a fast-paced environment, and you will have the interpersonal skills needed to communicate and implement these measures. With a well-developed understanding of technical accounting standards and compliance, you will have the capacity to use Excel and other financial reporting products to translate and deliver complex information in an easy-to-understand way.

Rewards

We are committed to supporting your financial future and emotional wellbeing. You can therefore expect lifestyle-friendly hours with flexible working options, plus a generous benefits package that includes plenty of training and development opportunities, 25 days of leave and access to our exceptional contributory pension scheme
