The Role

We are seeking a self-motivated finance professional to join the Corporate Accountancy Team and take responsibility for the VAT function. The post will give the right candidate the opportunity to gain invaluable experience across a range of key corporate finance areas. We don’t expect VAT to be the entire focus of the post, regular support will also be given to the Revenue and Capital areas of the Corporate Accountancy Team. Therefore the capacity to work flexibly and under great pressure is essential as this is a demanding and challenging role. The successful candidate will require a high level of technical expertise, along with the ability to interpret complex and evolving legislation and the commitment to keep abreast of changes in accounting requirements pertaining to Local Government and VAT.

Key Skills & Experience

• Qualified CCAB or actively studying CCAB (preferably CIPFA)
• Experience in a professional finance environment, with a sound understanding of Local Government policies and legislation.
• Knowledge and experience of working on the Statement of Accounts for a Local Government body and working within the VAT function for a similar organisation.
