Sutton & Kingston Shared Finance Service, established in April 2017, provides financial services to the London Borough of Sutton and the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

We deliver professional accountancy and financial management, commercial advice and expert analysis, innovative finance operations and financial inclusion services for vulnerable residents.

We’ve achieved a lot in our first four years of operation and are ambitious in our vision to do more. We were proud to have been shortlisted for 2020 Public Finance Award for Alternative Service Delivery Model of the Year, due to the service we provide to our customers, including front-line Council services, Councillors, residents, Council owned companies, businesses and partner organisations from other sectors.

The Role

We’re looking for two experienced Capital and Commercial Finance Managers to join the Commercial Finance and Investment team.

In the role you’ll support the Head of Commercial Finance and Investment to provide expert advice and guidance regarding the London Borough of Sutton and Royal Borough of Kingston’s Capital Programmes.

The post holder will take responsibility for leading and managing the development of the Capital Investment programmes of one of these two Councils.

You’ll also provide commercial finance support to a range of Council projects and will be recognised as an expert in commercial finance models. You’ll work as part of the Senior Leadership Team of the Shared Finance Service to provide inspirational leadership and drive cultural change, ensuring the service reflects the values of the Councils, achieving excellent outcomes.

What’s Needed

To succeed in the role you will need detailed experience and knowledge in capital programme development and providing commercially focused finance support to large programmes and projects.

You’ll have experience in developing and interpreting complex financial models, undertaking scenario testing and viability assessments for projects and programmes. 

In addition, you will be confident in your ability to influence discussions and shape strategic decision making, taking responsibility for the achievement of corporate and service objectives. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team you’ll have experience of leading by example to embed values and develop a collaborative, joined up, finance team.
