We are searching for a Finance Manager for the Children’s Services directorate of a busy unitary local authority. The role will be appointed on an interim basis for a minimum period of 3 months.
The main duties in this role will be to support the directorate through budget-setting, manage a team of 3 accountants and support the education team with budget-setting and forecasting.
This role may also involve some hands-on accounting work to analyse the performance and reports of each area, identifying and correcting any issues discovered and completing financial reports accordingly. Additionally, the successful applicant will support budget-holders, offering guidance on budgetary monitoring and service performance where necessary.
The successful applicant will ideally possess a finance qualification (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA or ACA) and have previous experience of working within a children’s services finance team for another local authority organisation. Additional experience of education / schools, specifically the schools funding formula, would also be an advantage.
