The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

Bradford is currently on a journey of change delivering the ambitious outcomes of our Council Plan. To support us in achieving this, we are looking to recruit a highly motivated Group Accountant who will play an important role in ensuring we remain a well-run Council, using all our resources wisely to deliver its priorities.

As a part of our Group Accountant cohort you will assist finance in exercising its control and support function in the provision of financial and management advice, particularly in relation to Capital and Treasury Management. You will be part of the Financial Accounting & Projects Team.

It is essential that you have at least 5 years’ experience working in a financial environment, at a senior level, in a complex organisation. Prior experience of staff management is not essential but would be beneficial to the applicant as it is a requirement of the position. Although being fully qualified, in a branch of accounting, is not an essential requirement of the post you would need to have as a minimum an AAT qualification or equivalent, along with a strong track record of success in managing relationships, demonstrating resilience and providing excellent financial advice.  Local Government experience, whilst preferential, is not essential for this role.

The roles we are seeking to recruit to cover will require strong technical accounting, budgeting, monitoring and communication skills. This post provides a full range of financial support to service departments, to ensure the delivery of the Capital Investment Plan. It also involves working on the closure of the statement of accounts in relation to Capital and Treasury accounting.

For further information regarding this post please contact either Lynsey Simenton on 07582 102779 or Rachel Gledhill-Moseley on 07966 307065.
