Payroll & Project Team Leader
Bromsgrove District & Redditch Borough Councils – Shared Services
£34,120 - £38,269

Transforming finance. Making a difference.

At Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils, we’re transforming our finances and introducing a new ERP system as part of an ambitious improvement and change programme. As our Payroll & Project Team Leader, you’ll lead our payroll service and play a key role in supporting the ERP implementation.

Your role

You’ll be the go-to person for all payroll issues, ensuring we deliver an efficient and effective payroll service to both councils and their partners, while leading your team through an exciting period of change. This means you’ll have a range of responsibilities, including helping to develop relevant financial policy, dealing with payroll system issues and ensuring relevant regulatory changes are interpreted and implemented effectively.

At the same time, you’ll support project teams in delivering the new ERP system, including building and implementing the payroll solution and its on-going support. This includes setting delivery timetables, liaising with user groups and acting as the internal project manager during implementation.

What you’ll need

You’ll have extensive experience and knowledge of business applications, including payroll, HR and finance. You’ll also need a background in relevant system administration support, along with experience of supporting the development and build of a major payroll system. Naturally, you’ll have a strong understanding of HR policies and employment law, as well as the ability to translate pay and conditions of service into systems builds. As a proven project manager, you’ll also have experience of successful project implementations.

A confident communicator, you’ll be used to developing and managing strong working partnerships at all levels and explaining complex issues clearly and concisely. You’ll also be a motivational manager, with the character to develop and inspire your team to drive efficiencies, identify commercial opportunities and make the most of them. Ideally, you’ll have a CIPP qualification, or will be keen to work towards it.

About us

Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council are going through an exciting period of change to deliver a transformation programme that will benefit everyone living and working in our two areas. Financial stability is at the heart of this and our shared financial services teams will play a vital role in making it happen. With easy access to England’s second city, Birmingham, as well as the beautiful Worcestershire countryside, Bromsgrove and Redditch are ideal places to live, work and build a rewarding career in.
