Bromsgrove District & Redditch Borough Councils – Shared Services
£41,285 - £44,295
Transforming finance. Making a difference.
At Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils, we’re transforming our finances as part of an ambitious improvement and change programme. As our Chief Accountant in this exciting period of change, you’ll play a key role, that will make a huge difference to local communities.
Your role
Working closely with the Financial Services Manager, you’ll oversee the work of our business support and technical accounts teams to instil high levels of trust and confidence in the councils’ finances. This includes leading the production of statements of accounts for both councils and making them available to the public. You’ll also manage their balance sheets, co-ordinate revenue and capital budgets, maintain their fixed asset register, oversee the shared treasury management service and approve the borrowing and lending of council funds.
What you’ll need
You’ll have experience in producing statements of accounts for a local authority, managing and monitoring budgets and working in a complex financial environment. With thorough knowledge of accounting principles, you’ll have the presence to take ownership of major projects and build trust across all levels of the councils. You’ll be an articulate communicator, with the presence to liaise with external auditors and develop strong working relationships up to senior levels cross both councils. As an inspirational leader, you’ll also have the ability to motivate and develop your teams to deliver excellent service. We welcome applications from individuals who are either part or fully qualified accountants, and support packages are available for those studying towards their accountancy qualification.
