Company

Tower Hamlets is one of the UK's most culturally vibrant and diverse areas. The borough is densely populated, with over 200,000 people living in eight square miles at the heart of London's East End. Some 49 per cent of residents are from black and minority ethnic communities. We have Investors in People status, have achieved the highest level of the Equality Framework for Local Government and are committed to recruiting a workforce to reflect our community.

Challenges do still remain and deprivation and poverty is present in the area, providing a stark contrast to the wealth and prosperity that has grown around Canary Wharf and the City fringes.

The Council is making capital investment of some £300 Million over the period 2014/15 to 2016/17 and there are a number of high profile capital projects being designed and delivered during this period. We are seeking people with ambition, creativity and commitment to ensure our economic growth and capital investment provides benefits for everyone and create opportunities to transform the lives of local residents.

Against this background, a professional, independent and objective internal audit service is vital for promoting good governance across the Council.
