We want Cheshire West and Chester to be a place where everyone can THRIVE – through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

Cheshire West and Chester Finance Service is looking to recruit highly motivated individuals, with a can do attitude to be responsible for overseeing the provision of a high quality financial service. The post holders will achieve a high level of customer satisfaction and make a real and demonstrable difference to the Council’s business.

We can offer you experience of working in a dynamic, yet supportive team, in an authority that has an excellent reputation. We are a modern, forward thinking organisation offering agile working styles to give ultimate flexibility and work-life balance.

The Council offers generous leave allowances (25 rising to 30 days a year), excellent pension provision, a comprehensive package of employee benefits through its Working Rewards Scheme and has a key focus on wellbeing, making sure that our staff feel well, safe and connected.

Sustainable Investment Manager – £23,646-£27,128 per annum (18.5 hrs/week)

The Council is recruiting a climate emergency team to spearhead activities to reduce its climate impact and deliver its ambition to achieve carbon neutrality for the borough by 2045. The Sustainable Investment Manager role will perform a key role in helping that team to evaluate and take forward options to achieve this aim.

The role will advise the Council on the financial consequences and opportunities arising from all elements of its carbon strategy. They will develop and evaluate potential carbon investments, work with front line managers to improve service climate impacts and help the Council monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of its strategies to deliver change in a sustainable manner.

We are seeking an individual with financial management experience and well developed analytical and investment appraisal skills, along with the ability to apply these to the full range of opportunities emerging in sustainable and environmentally positive investments. The successful applicant would be part of a team working in a fast changing sector and will need to demonstrate flexibility, innovation, risk management skills, an ability to evaluate financial performance and influence change. The role will work with a wide range of stakeholders and communication skills will be key.

We are looking to recruit a part time post (18.5 hrs per week) on a permanent basis. There may be the potential for this role to be combined with other Finance Manager roles being recruited to create a full time role for a candidate with the appropriate mix of skills. The role would benefit from flexible working arrangements but would primarily involve working from home, allied with access to office facilities in key locations across the borough when required.

For an informal discussion about this role, please email Paul Jackson paul.jackson@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk to arrange a convenient time for a conversation.
