To support this and deliver on key strategic objectives, Bristol are recruiting a number of Finance positions, including a Treasury & Tax Accountant. Reporting to and working closely with the Finance Manager, the Treasury & Tax Accountant will play a key role in provision of specialist advice and guidance for the Council’s financial planning. Key responsibilities include;

  • Taking a proactive approach in managing and delivering tax and treasury accounting services
  • Ensuring the Council’s compliance with tax rules, primarily VAT and IR35, whilst reviewing existing processes and driving improvements
  • Providing key support and advice to the Council’s Capital and Treasury functions
  • Building strong working relationships with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for business improvements and efficiencies
  • Ensuring a culture of continuous improvement looking to constantly adding value and inspire success

 

To be suitable for this role you need to be a fully qualified finance professional (or Finalist) with a demonstrable working knowledge of tax. Experience working in capital and treasury function is desirable. You will have an investigative mindset and strong communication skills, and the ability to liaise with external auditors and HMRC on complex tax issues.

These roles are able to work remotely for the majority of the time, with occasional trips to the office. These are anticipated to be around once a month or less. Any journeys to the office would be at the employees own expense. Part-time working arrangements can also be accommodated with these roles.
