We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join our busy Finance team capable of deputising for the Principal accountant as necessary.

You will provide Financial management to all council services including the Housing Revenue Account; assist in the annual Budget setting process including the medium term capital programme. Take a lead role in the upgrade and testing of software, support the Accounts Payable function and undertake work for the completion of the Statement of Accounts. Complete government returns and prepare daily Treasury Management proposals

The ideal candidate should be a qualified or part-qualified CCAB accountant and have local government experience, all similar transferrable skills will be considered. Assistance with CCAB training and mentoring support is also available

Applicants must have good numeric and literacy skills; be effective in their use of Microsoft Office; capable of retrieving and manipulating information for the production of reports; as well as being confident in the use of financial systems.

The role requires the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across disciplines and to work flexibly and creatively to meet changing priorities.

  • Broxtowe has been twinned with Gütersloh in Germany since 1977 and the year of 2008 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Twinning Links.
